Nicodemus, Up Close and Personal.....

Ask a question....and have it answered here......

There are many people who visit my page who want to know even more about me (Nicodemus!! Mwahaahaahaa). Well.....I've compiled a list of questions that I get asked often by some people who know me and some people who do not! Read at your own risk! (just kidding! Enjoy!)

1. How did you get the name Nicodemus?

Answer: Well....if you logged on to this page and you read the welcome text, you'll get your answer! You'll get a more detailed version if you ask me in person.

2. How did you get so involved with the Renassiance Festival?

Answer: Well......I'll try to answer this the best I can, so here goes: My mother has been going to the Faire since 1992, and I never found it intriguing. Well....two years passed (1994) and I was convinced to go with my parents for a Saturday afternoon. Sad to say, my job at the time did not give me the day off as I had requested, so I, out of the best of intentions, made my first call-in! I went with Mom and Dad, thinking "This is gonna be boring, OK Mom....." giving my "Oh Lord, What is it this time?" look. We got there for opening ceremonies and went in, and magic happened. I was hooked. I truly felt as I had been drawn back to 1585. We left around 4PM and I asked my mother: Mom? Why the hell are we leaving NOW?!?!" And the rest is (somewhat) history.

I went at least two or three times a year since then (1994), and spent a LOT of money there, and from time to time, Mom would say: "Allen, why don't you work there? I'm sure you'd like it." So......fate made me call Sterling in April 2000 asking about a security position. I was interviewed by the owner and he said to me: "Stand up." So I did, and he then said, "Ahhh....you're big and ugly, I think you'd be a great Guard here!" I was about to respond "Thank you, I think...." but I'm glad I didn't. The 2000 season came and Guard Nicodemus was born! I wound up meeting SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many new and wonderful people. If you all read this, I LOVE YOU ALL!

3. Who is your favorite person at the Faire?

Answer: I have no real favorite, but I like working with all the people there. I'd have to say the people that I am the closest to would be the "Rennie" group (too many to name offhand) because we are all a real true "family". There is a lot of love among us Rennies!

4. What did you do at Faire?

Answer: I was part of the Security team until the 2003 season. It is a real big responsibility, and I tried to take my Security job very seriously, but I guess I did not make the grade to continue working there. Oh well. I checked ID's at the front gate, and I watched for slightly intoxicated people, and I looked for underage drinkers. If I suspected a person was intoxicated, then I told them they should stop drinking, and after they left I sent a message to all Security and all the other pubs a description of the person and they did NOT serve them. If they were to start a problem, I would then call for backup and the person would be removed and asked to leave. I still managed to have LOADS of fun at Faire too, but, sad as I am to admit it, I think that lead to my no longer being asked back for Security. *sigh*

5. Are you as crazy as I have heard? (by Gina from Faire summer 2002, my "admirer"!)

Answer: If you look on the All About Nicodemus section on this site, It will say Unpredictible. I am VERY unpredictible from time to time. I can be really nice and outgoing one day and then I can be a miserable "bastard" the next. It is a trait of mine that I'd be glad to lose. Sometimes, when I meet people and they see my unpredictible personality, they are in fear of me, or they do not know what to think.

There are a few that I choose to be unpleasant to, because they are the people who think that the world has to revolve around them, and everything you've been through, THEY'VE been through it worse. People like that, I'm sorry to say, piss me off. Within the past 3 years that I have worked at Faire, I have met a lot of positive people and my overall attitude had changed a LOT. I still have a lot of issues to work on, but I have become a LOT MORE pleasant and outgoing, and everyone at Faire saw it this season. My friend Mike helped my "attitude adjustment" a lot! I hang out with Mike because he brings out the little kid in me (just see him and I together!!), and he makes me feel good about myself. These days, he's trying to find me a girlfriend!

6. Why do you like waterfalls so much? (from Dee from Ithaca, NY)

Answer: Waterfalls are eternal!! They are forever!! They will be around a LONG time after we are all gone, and they will still be flowing probably until the next ice age! People have different ways of entertaining themselves, and I have my way. I go see a waterfall, and if the conditions are right, I'll climb up and dip my head! (see the Waterfall Gallery!)

7. Why did you name your Mustang "Adriana" after a girl whom you've only met once? Isn't that a little obsessive?

Answer: Not at all. I am not pSyChO in love with Adriana from Medieval Times, I just think she is drop dead beautiful. I even told her so when I met her that night. I'd really like to see her again, but Fate most likely won't let that happen. :-/ A second trip to Medieval Times is slowly but surely in the works, so I might be able to see her after all. Who knows?

When I got home from the trip the next day, I looked at the picture of Adriana and I on my digital camera, and I looked outside at my Mustang under the car cover (or "dress" as I refer to it!), and decided she needed a name. Eleanor was already taken, and Sally was taken a LONG TIME before I was even born, so I christened my car Adriana. If I get to see the real Adriana again (which is a faint possibility), I am going to show her my car and tell her that it has her name! She'll probably think I am psycho, but hey! Who knows? Chances are, she won't even remmeber who I am until I show her the pic of her and I.
