Mission Guild Studio, located in the Historical Leatherstocking Region of New York, is a "Unique" dual artisan studio specializing in a revival and renewal of Arts & Crafts era ideals. The studio is owned and operated by Christie A. Schorf-Miller and James M. Miller, a diverse artisan/craftsman team working solo as well as collaborating on the next level of Mission and Arts and Crafts in America. Christie received her Bachelors Degree in Art History, from the State University of New York at Oneonta, with a concentration in Sculpture and Design and an honorable Phi Theta Kappa Associates Degree from Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, New York; with a concentration in Commercial Art and Illustration. James studied at both the New York School of Interior Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City; with a concentration in Design.

Learn About The Roycrofters In the Spring of 2007 Christie A. Schorf-Miller & James M. Miller were individually awarded the designation of "Roycroft Renaissance Master Artisan". The history of Roycroft dates back to 1906. This designation of Roycroft Artisan includes the privilege of using the Historical and Highly Collectable Roycroft Renaissance Mark on their creations. Christie has received the Roycroft Master status for her outstanding work in Clay & James has received the Roycroft Master Status for his outstanding work in Wood. Additional information on Roycroft is available via the "Roycroft" link located within the web site Directory near the top of this page.

With a strong passion and established philosophy of “Forward Thinking in the Craftsman Tradition” this artisan guild offers both traditional and unique furnishings and décor. James and Christie specialize in multi-mediums such as Rare Hardwoods, Clay, Stained and Leaded Glass, Painting, and Copper to name a few... individually they each bring you over 20+ years of experience in the arts and design. Influenced and Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement many of the Mission Guild tiles are created with the same hand crafting methods used by both Ernest Batchelder and Moravian.

"Our offerings are each individually Artisan Designed and Handcrafted here in our Studio, rather than factory mass produced. We offer a variety of Exclusive - One Time Only - Artisan Creations with Limited Availability through our Shows, Exhibits, Galleries and Auctions. On occasion we will also implement outside artisan works into our furnishings and decor; these selections are noted as such and may be found within our Custom Frames or Combined into our Furniture Designs. We offer an extensive On-Line Catalog via our web site at www.MissionGuild.com... Be sure to keep our web site Book Marked in your Favorites as we are frequently updating the On-Line Catalog with new hand wrought selections."

Custom Orders are Available

"Although we offer an on-line catalog, Custom Orders are Available. There is nothing more gratifying to us than the creation of Functional Decorative Art and Furnishings which we have designed and created for a client’s distinct enjoyment or specific need/purpose. We can Brainstorm Together or you can leave the design and “artistic license” in our hands. Let us create something extraordinary for you... a piece that reflects your life, career or personality, to be treasured for generations to come… something that your neighbor doesn't have."
