NEWS FROM HOME: SEPTEMBER, 2006

Where everyday is Friday.

The schools are open and we have a new superintendent. Her name is Dr. Roberta Gerold and she comes to us as a seasoned superintendent from both Miller Place School District and most recently from Farmingdale Schools. Many of you may recognize the name. I‘ve met her and she seems delightful; ready to handle all of the complexities of Middle Country. We wish her well

Our directories were enclosed with this mailing along with your membership card and the announcement of the Middle Country Educational Foundation’s annual golf outing. If you can attend, please respond as indicated on the flyer and make note of the fact that you are a member of the Middle Country Retirees’ Association. Many of your former colleagues will take part as well as supporters of the Foundation. The Association donates $250 to sponsor a hole for the outing.

We have made arrangements once again for our December 5, 2006 luncheon at the Meadow Club and we will be mailing you the flyers at a later date. Also, keep June 5, 2007 open for our 20th Anniversary Luncheon that will be held at the Watermill on Nesconset Highway. It has been 20 years since the Association was founded and began looking out for our retirees. Try to be there. To date we have 389 paid members and growing everyday.

Please note the additions to our Wall of Remembrance, the names in bold have been added since the last directory, however, it does not necessarily mean they passed away these passed two years. We constantly update these names and if you know of someone who is missing, please write to me at valdinon@optonline.net No MCCSD employee should be forgotten. Our Webpage has expanded and is quite a sight. If you have not visited it yet, do so now and you will be very pleased.

HELP IS NEEDED: In the event that Michael Daly can no longer manage our 330 page website, he is asking one of our members familiar with computers to come forward and speak with him in order for him to demonstrate how to access and update the site. If interested, contact Michael.

The district has confirmed that all our retirees should be receiving a copy of the Bulletin Board. Remember that publication? If you are not receiving it please contact me at 631-732-3447. It is not a monthly mailing, it goes out perhaps 4 times a year.

Anne Bedard, our Vice President, continues to have the group luncheons on the lst Tuesday of the month. Check our webpage for times and places.

Regular Meetings of MCRA will once again be held on the 4th Tuesday of October, November 2006 & January, February, March, April and May, 2007.
