My name is Melissa and I am 24 years old. I started teaching when I was 16 years old as a first and second grade Sunday school teacher at my church. This experience led me to pursue a career in Education. I entered college at Mount Saint Vincent in Bronx, NY as an English major with a concentration in Secondary Education. One of my professors encouraged me to enroll in the Dual program. By the time I graduated from Mount Saint Vincent, I dropped the Secondary concentration and majored in Special Education. Most of my experience with special education has been with students with emotional disturbances and/or behavior disorders. Working with these students has been my passion for about five years. Since I graduated with my B.S., I have been working at Orange/Ulster BOCES as a special education teacher in a temporary placement classroom. Currently, I am working towards my Masters in Literacy at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. I also own a small business as an independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. When I have free time, I enjoy rollerblading, traveling, and reading.
