Why did God become man?
First of all this is not asking God to explain Himself. That is absurd for a believer and silly for a non-believer. What it is is a question which makes us wonder about God's scheme - that He sent His Holy Spirirt to imbue a human male.
We know that God created us.
We know that we are all sinneres - in rebellion against the One True Holy LORD God Almighty.
We know that by His mercy He has set a path which will allow some of us to be saved.
It is this route, what are the possible reasons which we can possibly deduce, for God having chosen this route?
The following is my attempt to answer this question.

God created everything. Then Satan rebelled and took 1/3 of the angels in heaven with him. God also created man and man also rebelled against God. Now everyone of us deserves damnation, but then God gave some humans a way out - a path to His Salvation. This is the role of our Lord, Jesus Christ. So by faith in Him one is guaranteed to be saved. (However, let me point this out, that b/c of Ecc. 9:1-4, no one knows which of the believers are saved and which aren't. Only God knows which believer has the Holy Spirit indwelling them.)
So b/c of rebellion man is blessed with a path back into God's grace. THAT path is faith in Christ. And so being obedient to God is what counts! That makes sense. IOW, the first rebellion was a display of disobedience to God. The second (man's) was the same display, but also demonstrates that man desires to follow Satan. ... now I see it ... therefore BELIEVERS must be born to God from God.
This way only those who belong in Heaven, who God has elected to His Peace, who are born of the Holy Spirit, will enter into His Holy Kingdom!
But still, why did God make His Son to be in the image of man? (This is when Christ refers to Himself as: " ... the Son of Man...") I think the reason - now - is pretty obvious - God created His Son also as a man so that men will see Him and follow Him as they would any other (human) king. Thus the "human form" is essential to the task of fishing those believers out of the sea of chaos that is the world.
Interestingly, (I just realized this 2:00 PM) all the other pagan gods are non-human!
