I just realized the meaning behind "serving God as a lamb." It is what His Son did. It is what He told us to do. It is the way of being a true Christian. Indeed we will be described by the world as people with a "persecution complex." But look who is saying that? - the world. Their eyes have not been open to the single most dramatic secret in the entire universe. Never mind the deep field images of outer space. Never mind string theory, discovering ancient sites, genetically modifying species with DNA. The truth of the matter - indeed the Truth - is that God, our Father Creator has opened your eyes to Him, His Son, and His Holy Word. You now have real hope. What is there for the rest of the human race when everything they do is to seek things that pull them even further away from God? They have nothing - even though some of them are the most financially rich on the planet. Without God, there is only damnation ... and that is endless.
So be gentle, filled with mercy for these lost souls who only know the way of the world. They are lost in the life of the lost world. Have compassion for their plight ... and be a lamb of God. Just as Christ is The Lamb of God, we, His followers, should be lambs of God. And what did they do to lambs in the Old Testament? They used them as sacrifices for their own benefit. Granted we have to live in the world, pay our bills, deal with people - both friends and foe. But in our way we should stand out as obedient followers of Christ. I once was blind, but now I see.
Remember, our weakness is His strength. When the snake bit Paul, he simply shook it off his arm and continued on his way. The world is this snake, ready to strike and spit its poison at us. So we should learn to do nothing. There is a saying which capsulized this idea: "let go, and let God." The verse that comes to mind is "With God all things are possible, with man, nothing is possible." Indeed, He is the Potter, we are only His clay.
So be a lamb, not a lion (a live dog has more hope than a dead lion). Don't complain, just accept. Show the world that you know this is God's decision for your life - since He has decided to make you a sacrificial lamb for His Will. Be a good soldier of Christ and obey your commanding officer
