I just realized this about winning and losing. I play checkers online. Some times I win and feel good; some times I lose and feel bad. I have managed to work my way up to a competent intermediate player. I win a few and lose a few. Today God blessed me to win from 2 expert players - a German, and then a Frenchman. I almost beat an expert from Poland but was distracted by the possibility of getting a triple play. That's when it occurred to me. Who is winning? (Of course, who is losing?)

Since everything is God's Will:

  1. He is the Potter, we are the clay, ...
  2. with Him all things are possible, ...
  3. God is our strength, ...
  4. etc. ...
Then where is my victory?? Why am I celebrating my win(s)?? Didn't God allow me to win, (didn't God allow me to lose? Job: "...should we only praise God when He blesses us?") Since He allowed me to win then the victory belongs to Him - not me. In fact I had nothing to do with the win at all.

This makes perfect sense since God reminds us in His Holy Word, that there is no boasting. No one should boast about anything they have done. Of course not! Since all things descend from God, since all things are His Will, since all things belong to our LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, then only He should get the glory. We just sit back and take the complements all the while knowing that it was God alone who allowed us our victory.

This is why I always say: All glory to God!
