clay

Sabbath, 2/25/11, 6:54 PM EST USA
This is such a hard concept to understand - b/c it is even harder to accept!

We are God's clay. He is the Potter, and we are His -clay-. Amazing. I cannot see how I have intelligence, will, desire, thoughts, etc. - everything that goes into making up a human being - and yet all I amount to is a lump of His clay. How is that possible? How is it possible even for anyone to grasp?? It is in God's Holy Word so I know it is true. But I seem to forget it almost immediately after I remember it and go back to my old ways. I decide what I want to do, I chose what I want to do, I make what I want to make, I think - say - act - the way I want to think say and act...

The problem is in the word "I". "I" think "I" am ... thus (perhaps this is it?!? - the source of why all men sin against God - we say "I" as if our selves are - a god!) we think that we are equivalent to gods. So then our fundamental sin is blasphemy since we say "I will..."

Now that I (ahem) think of it even His Son prayed "...not my will, but Yours." Indeed - not my will but Yours.

I must admit I don't have verses to say that this is God's Word to us, but it does seem to be a reasonable deduction. So in other words, only God is "I am" - and for anyone else to say "I am" is immediately blasphemy. Or, for any one to say "I will" is to suggest that your will be done on earth - not God's. It seems right, but only verses from God's Holy Word will make it concrete.

  He made us.
   He is Sovereign.
    He is God alone.
His Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
      Not my will, but Yours.
       He is our strength.
With God all things are possible, with man nothing is possible.
God is the Potter, we are the clay.

...so life must be His crucible.

All glory to God!
