At IMDb.com there is a discussion of a movie. Someone said that money is the root of evil and I pointed out that the Bible says that the root of all evil is not money per se', but rather the love of money is the root of all evil.

After that someone argued that the Bible should only be taken as a guide. So I replied, by asking God what should I reply? and these are the two verses I found:

2 Samuel 22:31
"As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him."

Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

This morning I checked my email and the same person replied with this:

"Even the devil can quote scripture to fit his needs."

So, once again, I went to the LORD and realized the perfect reply was about Satan being the father of lies. And this was the reply found in God's Holy Word:

John 8:44
"You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

God's Word speaks an immeasurably better amount than I ever could.

That's right, I'm the devil, because I disagree with you. Please, continue on your crusade against Bubba Ho-Tep, Mrs. Billy Graham. Just remember tomorrow not to repeat the mistake you made this morning; you shouldn't mix crazy pills with stupid pills. And you might want to read a little further; it's the hypocrites that burn first and longest.

So I replied to him:

But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Know what's funny? I'm Catholic and actually believe in much of what the bible has to say, but I know not to take anything you have to say seriously; know why? Because anyone who starts quoting scripture on an internet message board like you are is either a right-wing nutjob or a troll. Either way you're f ucking clownshoes.

To which I replied:

John 1
1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I am not using my own words to talk to this person - (why? my words are worthless (have no value) but God's Word gives life.) - but I will say this ... I was raised Roman Catholic, my mother was RC and told me not to trouble her with the words in the Bible, and I gave up my role as a Conservative Republican b/c of 1 Timothey 2:3-4. Only God will move this person toward His Way, or not.

May God richly bless this person with a faith that saves, in Jesus' name, amen. (Ecc. 9:1-4)
