The Sabbath is Saturday

God set the seventh day as the Sabbath. Nowhere in the Bible does He change it to Sunday. It was changed by a pope of the RC Church in order to make further compromises with the pagans. (It is similar to the notion of Christmas - which has nothing to do with our Lord, Jesus Christ.) But what the Bible does say is:

Daniel 7

  1. "After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast, one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.

  1. "Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, which was different from all the others and most terrifying, with its iron teeth and bronze claws - the beast that crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left.
  2. I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell the horn that looked more imposing than the others and that had eyes and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
  3. As I watched, this horn was waging war against the saints and defeating them,
  4. until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom.
  5. "He gave me this explanation: 'The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it.
  6. The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings.
  7. He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time.

Saturday is the Sabbath of our LORD and God. Someone has tried to change that day and the world has been following this other day for centuries. In today's world even Protestant churches are accepting this other day as God's rest.

Then I remembered a verse I found a long time ago which I thought applied to there being no specific day. I remembered reading it, but after so long I figured I must have made a mistake. I joined a newsgroup (ng) on the internet and there found the very verse which I thought meant that the Sabbath can be any day we want. The verse is Romans 14:6. So I emailed someone I know at the website Remnant of God and he replied that this was only about any special day man might have (such as festivals like the 4th of July, etc. - this does not mean Christmas, etc.), not the Sabbath.

I accpeted that and went to the ng to let them know my reply. I was told by someone else that Romans 14:6 is definitely about the Sabbath. I was befuddled. I didn't know who to believe. Than I realized - believe God's word alone. Then it hit me: Genesis 2:1-3.

  1. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
  2. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

This passage is not the first Sabbath - it is about God's rest from all the work of creation - from all the work of creating His elect ready for His Rest on His Sabbath - the last seventh of creation. This passage is a prophecy, i.e. it is a statement about what will be - in the future after the end. So from creation to the end, Saturday is the Sabbath.

All glory to God!

At once I decided to do the research to find out the truth.

Romans 14:5-7 (KJV)

  1. One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
  2. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
  3. For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

Note, it doesn't mention the Sabbath, the Sabbath day, or worshipping God. It does say that if someone is convinced in their own mind about how important a day is, then we should not be at conflict with them. This is not a Sabbath day.

Romans 14:5-7 (NIV)

  1. One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
  2. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
  3. For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone.

Sometimes the wording in the KJV is too cumbersome for me. So I rely on the NIV to make the meaning stand out. (The bottom line is the original language. Perhaps one day God will bless me to learn them... if He is willing, in Jesus' name, amen.)

Nonetheless, as you can see that even in the modern translation, there is no mention of the Sabbath. Rather these days are referred to as "special." In the book of Esther, she and her uncle, Mordecai, invented the celebration of "Purim." It is not a day set by the LORD. In today's world many Jewish people celebrate it. (So you know that I know: the time of the people of Israel is over. The twelve tribes have been destroyed, the temple and all that was in it is lost, and the "wailing wall" stands as a testament to the LORD about His punishment and leaving of these people. See 2 Chronicles 7:19-22.) This is the kind of day which is being refered to in the NT as "special." Because it is indeed special that Israel escaped being slaughtered by Xerxes' army.

I wouldn't put any day as special since there is only one thing that counts - obeying God's commands. (Indeed I include myself in all this ... in all I write at this site. I am not exempt. If I was I would be a liar and a fraud. So when I write it is for me to hear and obey as well.)

Genesis 2

  1. Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
  2. By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all His work.
  3. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work of creating that He had done.

God blessed a specific day, the 7th day. He later told ancient Israel to worship Him on that day.

Hebrews 4
Hebrews 4:3
Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, "So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.' "

What day is that?
                                 The 7th day (Genesis 2:1-3)
                                                                                        the 7th day is Saturday
                                                                                                                                               Saturday is the Sabbath.

It is abundantly clear. I hope you see it too.

All glory to God!

Hebrews 4:4-5
4 And yet His work has been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in these words: "And on the seventh day God rested from all His work."
5 And again in the passage above He says, "They shall never enter my rest."

What day was spoken about? The 7th day (Genesis 2:1-3).

Hebrews 4:9-11
9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;
10 for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from His own work, just as God did from His.
11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

What day is God's rest? The 7th day (Genesis 2:1-3).
What day is the rest for the people? The Sabbath.
What day is the Sabbath? The 7th day, Saturday.

God's rest = the seventh day = the Sabbath! All glory to God!

I was forced into looking at this further when someone told me that I "defintiely was wrong" about Romans 14:6. Romans 14:6 is about any "special" day such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th, your birthday, etc. Whether one man considers any of these important or not is up to them... "...each should be convinced in his own mind." (NB: This goes well with a verse I remember reading in the OT, but God has not allowed me to find it again - if indeed it is there - which says that the Lord doesn't care about our traditions, meaning that man is free to have their own days or not.

But now I am conviced - the Sabbath is Saturday.

All glory to God!
