ABOUT YOUR BOATS:
HMS's "MANITOU" is a twenty-five foot Lancer sloop. This auxiliary powered sailboat is fully outfitted with room for four (six with children on the forward deck), a complete galley and for privacy, an enclosed head. She's been surveyed for safety equipment & meets or exceeds all U.S.C.G. requirements.
On sight-seeing trips, MANITOU is generally motored. This is due to the Hudson's varying winds & currents, and the constraints of time. If conditions are favorable, we will be under sail whenever possible.
(HMS reserves the right to cancel or delay trips due to hazardous weather conditions)
To see more of the Highlands in less time, HMS offers "ORION", an 19' Arima powerboat. She has room for six & for protection from the elements, a fiberglass hard top. There is a head aboard. "Orion" meets or exceeds all U.S.C.G. requirements and is built for use in the Pacific Northwest...so safety is assured in any weather.
ABOUT YOUR CAPTAIN:
As a life-long resident of the Hudson Valley, Captain Jeffrey Dahlke has been boating on the Hudson River ever since chilhood & is the owner/operator of HMS.
Captain Dahlke is licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard as an Inland Master of Inspected Passenger Vessels of up to 50 tons and of Uninspected Passenger Vessels of up to 100 tons. He is also authorized by the U.S. Coast Guard to engage in Commercial Assistance Towing. Capt. Dahlke is certified by the American Sailing Association.
His interest in local history is surpassed only by his passion for boating & sailing on the Hudson, one of America's recognized 'Heritage Rivers'.
