Hilltop Rattery is a small breeding program in Syracuse, New York. We breed fancy rats mainly to produce high quality pet animals and breeders. While we do strive toward the standards set out to describe show rats, there are very few shows on the East Coast, and so it would be difficult to present our rats as show specimens at present. There are also uncontained outbreaks of SDA associated with shows and improper quarantining procedures, and that is a risk we would like to avoid.

We have been out of operation for a few years, and if you checked on our website during that time you may have noticed that it hadn't been updated since around 2002. We are breeding again, with a focus on hairless traits, dumbo and blue. Eventually we will probably work back into Siamese/Himalayan, mink, and a couple other traits.

We should be updating this week to include photos and information on all of our "keepers" from the last few litters. I will also be posting some photos of one of our "homemade" cages.

Also, if you are interested in a rat but your husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, roommate or parent may say no at the last minute, PLEASE let me know these things ahead of time. I may have someone else interested in the same rat. I will still put you on the waiting list, but I will make a note so that someone else doesn't miss out on the rat they want.
