"What does 'Code 1' and 'Code 2' mean?" This is the terms our Dept. uses to indicate response modes. A 'Code 1' response means an emergency is or may be in progess, and units are to respond with lights & sirens activated. A 'Code 2' response means there is no immediate emergency, and units are to respond in a normal mode, with no lights or sirens.
"Who is KDP 438?" This is the FCC callsign for our base. Most of our dispatching comes from the Croton Police, who uses the radio under our license. That is why our calls are usually dispatched, "KDP 438 Croton Police to..."
