For some of us the first glimpse of Governors Island since we had left it so many years ago was through the morning's dim light of June 23, 2006. Has it been 30 years since...? or 40? or 50? Where has Time gone? We crossed the short distance from Manhattan's South Ferry to the ferry dock on Governors Island. Castle Williams looms ahead. Through the mist, far to our right, the lady of the harbor, the Statue of Liberty. We had done this before...many times...but so long ago. |
