Background
Information
Cornwall, NY: www.glenwood.org Like
almost all small communities, the greater Cornwall / Cornwall on Hudson
communities continue to experience growth and change.
Although events occur that are, or seem to be, unplanned, a need is
recognized to be proactive to change, rather than reactive.
Indeed, through the years, and even decades, interested political groups,
service groups, and individuals have engaged in planning, offered suggestions,
and worked on projects intended to help the community be an even better place.
Often times the efforts have been positive and successful.
Sometimes, however, the planning efforts were singular, perhaps slanted
to a particular bias, or possibly ill coordinated with other ongoing efforts, so
that the maximum potential of a particular idea was not achieved.
The Cornwall Challenge is a cooperative, combined planning effort of the
elected officials of the Town of Cornwall, Village of Cornwall on Hudson, the
Cornwall Economic Development Committee and the Cornwall Business Association.
As a result of the efforts of these groups, a local organizing committee
applied for and has received a grant for services from the Countryside Exchange
Program sponsored by the Glynwood Center. |
