What is Pagan Pride Day?
The International Pagan Pride Project is a non-profit organization whose primary purposes are the advancement of religion and elimination of prejudice and discrimination based on religious beliefs. Find out more at the parent website, Pagan Pride Project

Chemung County Pagan Pride Day is a chance for those of Earth-centered religions in and around Chemung County to come together and socialize, and for all others to come learn about who and what we are! All faiths and ages are welcome to come and celebrate the diversity of Elmira's Pagan community and spend the day.

EDUCATION:

As part of the Pagan Pride Project the festival seeks to counteract misconceptions and remedy ignorance about Paganism by welcoming the general public to come and learn firsthand about Pagan beliefs and practices in a friendly setting. We plan to achieve this through a variety of workshops and a religious ceremony that is both non-proselytizing and non-confrontational.

CELEBRATION:

The spiritual focus of the festival is a celebration to Share the Harvest. Pagans celebrate Nature and the turning of the seasons, and this day we celebrate the Autumn Harvest. We give thanks for abundance--all the harvests of our lives. As Pagans, we believe giving back to our community strengthens us, and will be collecting non-perishable foods for the Southern Tier Food Bank. We set apart a season to appreciate our abundant blessings and give heartfelt thanks in a spirit of generosity and gratitude. We call upon our fellow Pagans and all who would freely join with us in this celebration to give non-perishable food from our bounty to share with those in need. It is to realize this purpose that we have organized a food drive as a service effort to support the Food Bank.

COMMUNITY:

As we come together to learn from each other and celebrate the Sacred with grateful generosity, we also seek a common understanding, an understanding both within the larger Pagan community and among those who do not share our spiritual beliefs. Our gathering is intended to create a broader community. We gather as a community to gain strength through revealing the beauty and value of our unique spiritualities. We seek a union of our diversity for mutual support as we grow into the future.

We are planning many activites for this years event and are looking for volunteers.
We also have a message board. Feel free to post or just check out what is going on.
