Related Species
There were once eight other sub-species of tigers in the world.
Only five remain. (Bengal, Siberian, Sumatran,
Indochinese, and Caspian).



  • The Bengal tiger's roar can be heard up to 2 miles away.
  • Tigers often eat meat after it has already begun to puterfy.
  • After killing its prey, the feeding starts at the hindquarters first.
  • Bengal Tigers only purr when breathing out-domestic cats purr when breathing in and out.
  • Tigers don't like alot of heat so they often lie in pools of water to cool off.

  • Bengal Tigers are capable of killing animals over twice its size.
  • Bengal Tigers are numerous in the Sundarbans regions of India and Bangaldesh. They are also found in northern and central India, Burmal, and Nepal.
  • In 1900 the tiger population of India 40 thousand-50 thousand. By 1972 it dropped to 1,850. A good conservation program has increased it to 4,000.
