Laura’s POV
AJ had just finished with my hair as my dad called for all of us to come out and get into the venue. Tonight he would be showing me to the world, I was excited. Oh was he in for a BIG surprise when that happened! I could see his face now… I laughed.
“Brownie! Let’s go!” AJ called before getting off the bus. Hey, it’s not my fault that I take too long. Ok, so it is. Oh well! I walked into the stadium carrying all my crap with me. I opened my dad’s dressing room and threw all my crap into it.
“HOLY SHIT!” I heard someone behind me yell. I turned around to see Brian.
“Oh, hey Bri Bri!” I said sweetly, acting totally normal. “You may want to put your eyes back into your head. Girls really don’t go for that look these days.”
“What the hell did you do to your hair?” he asked, commenting on my once brown hair, now hot pinked streaked hair. Under it was streaked more than the top. (Know what I mean? Like the one’s closer to my neck were done more than the ones on the top of my head. Get it?)
“Me? Nothing.”
“Then how did it get… LIKE THAT?”
“What? You don’t like? AJ did it for me.”
“Your dad’s gonna kill you.”
“Aw, why, don’tcha like?”
“Me? No, I like, your dad… AJ gonna die.”
“Aww, poor Boner,” I said rolling my eyes. “Well, I’d love to stay and chat, but I gotta go find mi padre to call Liz and Mandah, ciao babe!” and with that, I walked away to find my Dad still laughing at the look on Brian’s face.
“Babe, love the hair!” Nick said coming out of a near by room, which I assumed to be his dressing room.
“Hey Nickers, thankies! For some reason Brian thinks Dad won’t.”
“He won’t, but since when has that stopped you?”
“Uhh…”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.”
“Since when do you think?”
“Shut up. Betta show you Dad before the concert, you don’t wanna give the poor guy a heart attack, I mean, the group wouldn’t sound right without him.”
“Yeah, that’s where I’m going now, ciao!” I said before leaving him, once again in search for my Dad.
I wandered around a little more, looking for my father, I asked the security guards around, along with everyone backstage. I gave up. “DAD!” I screamed out. I heard someone running, crashing, an “oof” and then my dad soon appeared, out of breath.
“What? What’s wrong? HOLY CRAP!” he said all in one breath.
“Like?”
“Go wash it out! Now!”
“Sorry, no can do!”
“What? DO! You have to come out there tonight, ad I want you to make a good first impression!”
“Oh, so I guess that rules out wearing my slut outfit!”
“Yes! Go now, wash, rinse, repeat!”
“Why? So you won’t loose a bunch of 5 year old-little girls? AJ’s here isn’t he?”
“1, try 16 and up in age, and 2, I know AJ’s here!… he did this didn’t he?” he asked, his face turning red.
“Dude, calm down, I did it, yeah he helped, but that’s only because I couldn’t do the back by myself and knew Nick’s too scared of you to do it. But the idea and supplies were all me… J didn’t have the right shade of blue. Besides, it’ll come out if a few days, it’s only cream rinse and Jell-O. Gees,” I told him rolling my eyes. “And now, if you don’t mind, I have two people to go and find outside amongst the teenies.”
“Take Mark or Steve with you,” he said referring to two of the many bodyguards on tour with us.
“KK, ciao!” I said before going to find Steve, my personal bodyguard. Come on, whadda ya expect? My dad’s a tad too over protective, and I had to try and make it through the summer without giving him a heart attack. How I’d manage, that I’m not sure…
Anyways, where did Stevie go? “Boner have you seen Steve?” I asked AJ as I passed him in the hallway.
“Nope, sorry Brownie,” he said, using my nickname. Where he got that from, I’m still not quite sure. I think it’s got something to do with how I tan easily and got dark hair… whatever.
“Damn, oh well,” I said walking away to find Steve again. Ah! There he is! He was standing with Mark by the backstage entrance, talking. I walked over to them and softly tapped Steve on the shoulder.
“Oh, hey Laur, find your dad?” Mark asked.
“Yep yep, that’s why I’m here. Sorry to interrupt you guys, but Stevie, Daddy said you have to come with me to find my friends. For some unbeknownst reason, he doesn’t trust me alone!” I told them rolling my eyes.
“Hmm, wonder why,” Mark said flipping a part of blue hair with his finger.
“Oh that!”
“Yeah that!”
“Anyways, let’s go before the crowd gets too big,” Steve said. “Bye Mark.”
“Ciao Markie!” I said before walking away with Steve.
“So, do you know where you’re meeting them?” he asked me.
“Yeah, around the corner at Starbucks, cause we couldn’t get them passes to get in, cause of the short notice.”
“Oh, gotcha. Walk or drive?”
“Walk, I gotta be cramped in that bus for too long later!”
“I hear ya babe! But I think Kev and the boys were talking about getting you your own bus to share with him and one of the guys or some dances.”
“Really?” I asked my eyes lighting up.
“Yeah, but shh, it’s supposed to be a surprise.”
“Oh, ok. Well, we’re here,” I said as I spotted the Starbucks, “and they’re there!” I said as I spotted my two best friends, Amanda and Elizabeth. I ran into the store and over to them. “Chickies!” I screeched.
“Laur!” Amanda said jumping up to hug me.
“Mandy, I missed ya babe!” I said returning the hug. “Liz! What’s up?” I said hugging her as well.
“I don’t know how you got Aaron to do that, but I thank you oh so much!” she said smiling, referring to when I got Aaron Carter to call her.
“No prob Bob!” we just laughed. I ordered a vanilla latte and sat down with my two friends, Steve right behind us. “Oh guys, sorry, this is Steve. My bodyguard…” I told them introducing him.
“Hey, wait a sec, you get your own bodyguard?” Amanda asked shocked.
“Yeah, padre es muy over protective!”
“Damn that must suck. Oh and by the way, I love the hair!”
“Thank you… Boner helped me with it. Jell-O is your friend!”
“Jell-O? Boner? Woah!” Liz said. I had to laugh. Guess I should have explained nicknames to them. Oh well!
“Girls, I hate to cut this short, but Kevin just paged me, and Laur, you gotta get back now for hair and make-up.” Steve told the three of us.
“Damn. Ok guys, here’s your tickets,” I told them handing them two blue tickets. “Stay at your seats after the concert, I’ll make my way back or someone will come get you, that way you can finish watching the oh-so-wonderful concert.” I said rolling my eyes.
“Bye,” the two girls said to me as I stood up and exited the Starbucks.
“Ciao!” I called back. This was going to be fun…
I was now sitting in the uncomfortable blue chair, waiting for Angie, the make-up artist, to come to do my hair and such. I was getting really antsy… I have an attention span less than Nick’s, which is pretty bad.
“You had to do it didn’t you?” someone asked me from behind. I turned around to see Angie shaking her head at me.
“What?”
“Hair?”
“Sorry, had to do *something*”
“Ok, here we go,” she said starting to curl my hair. We made small talk while she did my hair and make-up, and about an hour later, she was done. Now all I had to do was change into some decent clothes for the evening. I went over to my dad’s dressing room, to see what he had picked out for me to wear that night. Surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad. Hanging from the bathroom door was a pair of dark denim ‘Mudd’ flairs, a matching jean jacket, and a white spaghetti strap shirt. Along with it was a pair of ‘Sketcher’ dark green sandals. Props to my dad, he can really match if he tries. I was all ready now. Angie had put my hair up in a high ponytail, and then curled the hair, it looked really, really cute. Then she put on a light lavender eye shadowed that complimented my hazel eyes. (That happened to be a green that day.)
Well, the boys are out now, and I should be going out soon. But now I get stuck backstage… fun! I found Lil’ Tyke in Brian’s dressing room, and have been playing with him for the past hour. Fun huh? Yeah, that would be the highlight of my day so far! How sad is that?
“Laura, let’s go, you’re on in 5,” one of the people backstage called to me. Ugh, I didn’t want to do this! But it was only for this concert. Then there was the press conference they’d do, then MTV and so on. Ugh, the life of a pop star’s teenage daughter… a living hell!
I got up and walked over to the side of the stage so that the crowd couldn’t see me, but my Dad could. He smiled at me as the song ended. “Thank you for coming tonight. How ya New York?” AJ called out to the crowd. That was followed by loud screams… no screeches is more like it. Very high-pitched screeches too.
“Yeah, we thought so!” Nick laughed. “Ok, well, I think Kevin has something he wants to say to ya’ll now. Kev?”
“Yeah, ok guys, I want you guys to meet someone very dear and special to me that came into my life almost 15 years ago, but I found out about a few weeks ago. Please help me welcome my daughter out,” my Dad said, I was soon pushed out on stage. There were many gasps, and it was silent for a few minutes.
“Hey everyone!” I said using my own microphone I was handed before getting on stage. “What’s up? Not much here, just touring with these idiots,” that made some people laugh, I spotted Liz and Amanda in the front row and waved to them. I then walked over to my Dad and gave him a hug. “Thanks for the clothes,” I whispered. He just kissed my cheek.
“Well, whadda ya’ll say? You like Brownie?” AJ asked the crowd. There were a bunch of screams so I assumed they did. “Good, cause she’s not going anywhere!” I stayed out there for a little while longer than was allowed to go sit with my friends. Sure that caused me to be bombarded with things that fans wanted me to give to the guys. Oh well, I should have known that was coming. The guys performed for about another hour, then the concert ended.
“Let’s go,” I told Liz and Amanda, as I got up and went over to Mark who was at the end of the row. “Markie, can we go back now?”
“Yeah, let’s go,” he said leading us all to the buses. “Go ahead on. I’m going to tell Kev you’re here, and send Steve over. That ok?”
“Sure!” with that, he left the three of us alone. “Ok, what first? Hair or food?”
“Hair, they may be back soon.” Liz said, knowing exactly what I mean.
“Ok, I got red, pink, green, blue, and orange. What do ya want?” I asked them.
“Green…” Amanda told me, grabbing the lime Jell-O, and heading to the sink.
“Orange…” was Liz’s answer.
“Figures… fire,” Amanda called back. I just laughed. Now we were off to have some with hair…
~*~1/2 and hour later~*~
“Brownie?” someone called into the bus.
“In the kitchen J,” I said rinsing out Liz’s hair, as Amanda blow-dried hers.
“Oo, like the colors!” he said noticing their hair. Amanda’s was now streaked blue, and the bottom of Liz’s was orange… kinda like mine… just much, much brighter!
“Thank you. Approve?” I asked him.
“Yep! Now dry girl, dry! Your dad’s coming on in like 5 minutes.”
“Ok, grab a hair dryer and help!” I ordered him.
“Yes'm!” he said grabbing a hair dryer lying on the counter. “Ooo, you’re using Howie’s hair drier… and conditioner! Betta not let him see this!” he laughed.
“Oh well, sucks for him. DRY!” we were soon done, and hyper. Between the three of us and AJ, we looked like a rainbow when we stood next to each other. It was actually quite funny.
“O God! You’re all turning into him!” someone groaned as they stepped on the bus. I turned around to see Nick.
“Sorry Nickers!”
“Must you call me that?”
“Yes! Gummi Bear? Twizzler? Oh, we got some jellybeans too… well, that is if you can get them away from Amanda,” I told him. I looked back to see Amanda clutching her jellybeans, and nursing a bottle of iced tea.
“You just gonna down that, aren’t you?” he asked her. She just nodded and continued to nurse it. “Give me the Gummi Bears,”
“Catch,” I said as I tossed one of the boxes to him.
~*~An Hour Later~*~
We were now on the road, my dad still couldn’t believe what we had done to our hair and is in his bunk reading a book, Howie found out we used his conditioner and is now pouting, AJ is in his bunk, probably looking at dirty magazines again, and Nick and the three of us are hyper as can be and still eating crap.
“Mmmp mmmp went the little green frog one day, mmmp mmmp went the little green frog! Mmmp mmmp went the little green frog one day, and his eyes went mmmp mmp too! Honk honk went the little red truck one day; squish squish went the little green frog. His eyes don’t got mmmp mmmp no more, cause they got licked up by a dog!” Amanda and I sung out, extremely loud…
“What the fuck?” Nick asked.
“Dunno!”
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, a duck! Screw a kangaroo! 69 a porcupine! Orgy at the zoo!” Liz, Amanda, and I sang over and over running throughout the bus.
“DUDE!” I screamed at AJ. “Guess what!”
“What?” he asked looking at me strangely.
“GUESS!”
“You need serious help?”
“That too… but… THERE ONCE WAS A GENIE WITH A 10-FOOT WEENIE, AND HE SHOWED THE GIRL NEXT DOOR! SHE THOUGHT IT WAS A SNAKE, AND HIT IT WITH A RAKE, AND NOW IT’S ONLY 9-FOOT 4!”
“Holy shit, God help me!” he mumbled. “Kev! Your kid’s on crack!”
“I AM NOT!”
“CANDLE!” I heard Liz scream.
“Oh crap!” I said. Sorry, but I have to go leave now and tend to my friend’s obsession with fire! And get un-hyper! HA! Ciao!
