A Long Journey Begins

For my Eagle Project, I, Malachi Mott planned out an extensive coat drive. Flyers and memos were sent out to inform people of this noble event and pretty soon coats were being shipped in by the truckloads.

AWWWW MAN!!!!

My first major task was to sort all of the coats in order to prepare them to be cleaned. I had six boy scouts from my troop help me (three at a time) to separate the coats into 3 sections: dry clean, machine wash, and hand wash. They were all bagged and labeled to make the cleaning process that much easier.

The Origin of These Coats…

Most of the Coats that I collected were donated by the students, parents and staff of the Uniondale School District. I am truly grateful to have such a blessing as they helped me raise over 400 coats.

Dirt and Grime are Our Enemies!

We were most fortunate to get the aide of two local Dry Cleaners. Jim Jam Cleaners and Daisy’s Cleaners help us out with all the “Dry Clean only” coats. They were willing to clean a large amount of them at no charge. They truly are a blessing!
