Other Smallville Characters

There are other characters on the show? Besides Clark and Lex? Gee...who knew? Ha ha, just kidding...of course, without these guys, the show would hardly be the hit it is today. (Although a show with just Clark and Lex--clothing optional--wouldn't be bad either...bad shannon! ;)
Lana Lang--The beautiful, popular, but ever-angst ridden love of Clark's life. Lana enjoys horseback riding and poetry, and despite her small stature she is incredibly strong of spirit. Although just within his reach, Lana and Clark are thrown together and torn apart more times than is natural for teenagers on Smallville. Just when Lana, who is very protective and sensitive, lets Clark inside her heart, something happens to jar him back out again. One day Clark will break down the barrier around the lovely teen-orphan's heart, but until then, Lana Lang remains just a precious friend. Lionel Luthor--The wealthy owner of Luthor Corp, and Lex's dad who is charming, scary, and cool all at the same time. WIth his smooth moves, slick business style, and cynical mannerisms, Lionel keeps us on the edge of our seat with his intense conversations with Lex. He is quiet possibly the only man alive who can both baffle and intigue Lex all at the same time, and he has hit Lex where it hurts on more than one occasion. Other than playing dirty, and playing daddy to a stubborn (yet sexy ;) heir/rival, Lionel brings out the worst in Lex, and most recently started investigating Clark, which should lead to some trouble down the road. Lionel is currently trying to charm the residents of Smallville through Martha first, and now Chloe, but we shall soon see the evil of his intentions.

Jonathan Kent--Clark's farm raised, tough on the outside-teddy bear on the inside dad, who is determined to keep Clark's secret from the world. Along with keeping Clark on a tight leash, and bearing an intense hatred for Lionel Luthor, Jonathan loves his wife and son dearly, and will go to any lengths to keep his family together. Recently, Jonathan became slightly better aquainted with Lex, who he previously detested as much as his father, but he maintains a cool distance most of the time. Jonathan is a good citizen, and well-known in the community, but his short fuse has gotten him into trouble on a few occasions. All in all, Jonathan comes across as a good man, hard worker, faithful husband, and a doting daddy. Martha Kent--Clark's sweet, smart, down-to earth mom is one of the few good pillars of morality left in Smallville. A protective, loving mother to Clark, and the rhyme to Jonathan's reason, Martha is a romantic woman who is strong willed and intelligent, despite her labor as a farm wife. Now pregnant with her first biological child, Martha shows herself to be slightly more vulnerable, and in a few episodes--(ex:Season 2--Fever) how dreadfully scared she is of losing Clark. In the episodes to come, we will surely see more of Martha's personality coming out, as she proves to be an essential character to the twisted Smallville plot.

Chloe Sullivan--Not one of my favorite characters, but I'll give Chloe one thing--she's a great reporter. As the sassy, on-the-edge-of-something-cool-I'll-call-you-later type editor of the acclaimed Smallville High paper, The Torch, Chloe turns heads. Not only is she witty and pretty (hey, I'm a poet and I--oh nevermind) but she's talkative, smart, and always discussing the latest news-whether it's real world drama, or Wall-of-Weird-material. Although her work is highly controversial, her journalistic spice landed her a summer internship at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, and more recently caught the eye of Lionel Luthor. Unfortunately, Chloe is also hopelessly in love with Clark (who wouldn't be?) and swings between jealousy and sorrow, knowing he only has eyes for Lana. More than once has her attitude of a jilted lover (she and Clark once went out) stopped the intimacy between Clark and Lana, but what can you do? She's an unstoppable force. Pete Ross--As Clark's main man Pete, second string football player for the Smallville High Crows, and Camaro-driving cutie, Pete steals the show. (Well, not really, Clark and Lex steal the show. It's just an expression.) With his sweet grin, and ready-for-anything attitude, he's always by Clark's side when there's something going on. Now that he is the one sould other than Martha and Jonathan who knows of Clark's powers, Pete and Clark are closer than ever. I, as does many others, suspect that Pete might have a thing for a Chloe, but that is never brought into the spotlight. Pete's main role is usually as CLark's sidekick, which earns him a few injuries (Season 2-Nocturne) Yep, being Clark's friend'll do that to you. As the show progresses, Pete becomes Clark's confidante for all things Krypton related.

Is that it? Whew, glad that's over. I wrote all that in an hour...I thought my hand was gonna fall off!
