My name is Greg Bogoshian and I am known in many circles as Boggs since it is a lot easier to spell and say.

I built my first guitar in 2004 with my buddy, Tim Fuss, who is an excellent wood smith and teacher of the craft. My initial motivation came when I was just browsing through Pittsford Lumber here in town and I saw this incredible plank of wood called padauk, and I just had to have it and build something with it, so as a player, I chose a guitar.

I felt it might make a very bright sounding guitar if I made it into a solid body, so I thought I would tame it some by making it a chambered body and combining it with a mahogany chambered midsection. I then discovered Cuban mahogany through Blue Moon Exotic Woods, and the marriage was born!

I figured that I should build a test mule out of cheap woods to develop my build process and test my design out, and I contacted Tim with the promise of sharing this padauk with him so he could build his own if he would help me out initially and also since he had the most tools. TJ, as he is known, was more than happy and eager to help!

I designed and built my first prototype out of two slabs of pine glued face-to-face to approximate the thickness of the mahogany and used cheap, but nice looking European hardwood plywood for the mule’s top and back. It served its purpose wonderfully as it taught me a lot, and the bloody thing sounded so good that I got another neck and set of hardware and electronics just for it. I still play it in concert performances today!

Both of our padauk guitars that followed had such a unique and refined character that the decision was made to make these and other chambered concept guitars available as hand made custom guitars. My wife and I moved into a larger house so I could acquire some tooling and have more storage space for woods and have more space to build in. I have also found that people have asked me to use my skills to repair and set up their guitars for them as well. The added room was very beneficial here, too!

Bottom line is, I am here and doing this to support musicians and to maybe help, through glorious tone, flexibility, and playability, to inspire greater musicianship from players of my guitars or through my repairs and setups.

There is no way I expect to get rich off of this, for sure!
