THE SIGNALMAN WOULD HOIST THE FOX FLAG, AS WE WERE ABOUT TO ENGAGE THE ENEMY. THE DESTROYER ESCORTS WOULD BE ALERTED THAT OUR SHIP WOULD BE TURNING INTO THE WIND TO LAUNCH OUR AIRCRAFT. OUR TASK GROUP WOULD DEPLOY THEIR FORCES AND THE DESTROYER ESCORTS WOULD CONVERGE ON THE U-BOAT AND DROP DEPTH CHARGES. THE "MIGHTY MIDGET", USS BOGUE WOULD NOW BE TRANSFORMED FROM A SHIP OF MANY DUTIES TO A UNIQUE WARSHIP, CAPABLE OF DAMAGING AND SINKING THE ENEMY'S U-BOATS AND SURFACE VESSELS. OUR PLANES WERE USED FOR RECONNAISSANCE RANGING MANY MILES IN ORDER TO SIGHT AND THEN BOMB ANY VISIBLE SUBMARINES THAT MAY HAVE INTRUDED INTO OUR WATERS.
