Kunduz bombed again
American aircraft have intensified their bombing of Kunduz in northern Afghanistan where thousands of Taleban fighters are surrounded by their enemies. On the diplomatic front, separate missions from the United Nations and Russia are holding talks in Kabul about the shape of a political settlement for Afghanistan.
Russian government delegation heads to Kabul
A Russian delegation will arrive in the Afghan capital, Kabul, today for talks with the Northern Alliance leadership in control of the city and large parts of the country. The Russian defence minister, Sergei Ivanov, said the group would try to establish working contact with what he described as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.
