news240/ The Biggest contract offer in history - Aminis, Brock's offer from A's [12.13.04]mon.[06:35PM]
Jermey Slifka had this to say Monday morning at around 8:15 AM. "Being a normal manager isn't fun, being a crazy manager is..."
  • Slifka (6:33:07 PM): about Aminis
  • Slifka (6:33:20 PM): if i sign him he will be the ace pitcher
  • Slifka (6:33:29 PM): 10y/750m
  • Slifka (6:33:33 PM): 75 million per year
  • Slifka (6:33:53 PM): quite an offer
  • Slifka (6:34:04 PM): perhaps the biggest in MLBjr
  • Rudy(6:34:28 PM): ...
  • Slifka (6:34:44 PM): and also im offering Peter Brock 1y/45m (45m)
  • Slifka (6:34:49 PM): as starting center field
  • Slifka (6:35:45 PM): so tell me what u think
  • Slifka (6:36:06 PM): i have everything figured out
  • Slifka (6:36:11 PM): my whole payroll and everything

WOW... So if the Yankees can't match that then i guess we'll see Aminis out west.

Phillies can easily match Brock's offer, $10M more than he made in 2004 however, the A's may keep going up the rack on Brock and Phillies may not go along as we see how risky of a business decision the A's are making with Aminis.

Say the A's only win 85 games in 2006. That is a payroll of $170m for 2007, Aminis will be making 2/5's of the team payroll. That eliminates extra money for other pitchers, as Aminis will only take the hill once out of every 5 games. I can see this huge blockbuster offer to an everyday player but if it's to a pitcher who pitches 35 times a season doesn't make the most sense.
