The Yankees defeated the Athletics 12-2 infront of a soldout crowd at Gypsy Park 10.27.04. The Yankees slugged 6 homeruns by 3 different players. Scott Rudy 2(2), Ben Clark 2(2), DJ Cruz Jr. 2(2).
Ben Clark hit a Grand Slam in the top 1st after Cameron Welch led off with a walk and then stole second, Rudy and Neuman struckout, DJ Cruz Jr. walked as well as Ryan Cruz while Ryan did it on a full count. Yankees scored 4 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd, and 2 in the 4th. While the A's scored a run in each of the first 2 innings one being off of the bat of Tom Bautisa in the 1st inning and his 2 homers of the series it was not enough to shutdown the Yankees in Game 2.
In Game 2 the New York Yankees came up with a different line-up, and overall it looked better than Game 1's.
Game 1 Line-up:
Game 2 Line-up:
The only change from the starting line-up's is that Game 1 you had John Black and Alex Jones. Both power hitters but are not the fastest. Then Game 2 you had Cameron Welch who is very fast and is a little pest at the plate and then there's Kevin Cylnburn the single season NL Homerun Champion (65 in '01-'02) and is of course a power hitter and has good speed.
For Game 3 expect Cameron Welch to start and John Black sitting the bench. We here that Welch will probably leadoff again. Black will probably take over for Welch in the 3rd inning. If Yankees will need someone to pinch run look for either Troy Hood or Robert Pach to take the job. Do not rule out Jacky Mills, he may get an at bat in this ALCS.
