news230/ *BREAKING NEWS* Yankees 33 game winning streak comes to a stop... [10.26.04]tue.[06:51 PM]

Ladies and Gentlemen tonight's game between the Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees played at Turnpike Stadium for Game 1 infront of a 48,509 soldout crowd. The A's whom are on a 9 game winning streak with no losses since 08.03.04 when they got hammered by the Yankees 14-0 when the team hit 5 homers of the A's pitching came into Turnpike Stadium will nothing but confidence. In fact the A's as a team struck out 10 Yankees which is a record against them in a 4 inning game.
MLBjr.tk prodicted that the Yankees will win tonight's game 8-1.
  • We'll jump to the top 5th as it was scoreless after 2 and the A's coming up and Rudy was playing CF as if Tom Bautisa will pull the ball and then Bautisa on the first pitch hit an opposite field hit that went 92' just sailing over the wall in right. John Black not an everyday outfielder could not come up with the ball. Rudy came within 5' of robbing the hit and after the homerun he said he should of been playing all the A's hitters to hit to right because they cannot pull it except for Ho-Rod and Roche. Then after Ho-Rod gets hit the very next pitch and Slifka doubled to left it was 2nd & 3rd with one out and Mitch Ballard who almost costed the season for the A's against the Red Sox in the ALDS when he got picked off with the tieing run at the plate with Ho-Rod in the bottom 3rd. So Ballard gets a chance to redeem himself and Rudy called for the infield in while playing CF but only the corner infielders came in when they all were suppose to come in so the 2B and SS stayed even with the bag and then Ballard hits a grounder to Maersk at second and the second run comes in to make it 2-0. That's all the A's will do and the Yankees come up in the bottom 3rd and Neuman cranked a 195' homerun hooking the foul poul down the RF line. We head to the top 4th and Rudy comes in and strikes out the side and then bottom 4 Yankees last chance to keep the 33 game winning streak alive. Freddrick Crevan whose been a life saver for the A's this year strikes out the side (Ryan Cruz looking, Ben Clark swinging, and pinch hitter Cameron Welch swinging). Crevan threw 10 of 12 (83%) pitches for strikes. While Slifka threw 30 of 39 (77%) for strikes. The A's did the unthinkable, defeating the Yankees! Last loss for the Yankees was a 2-1 loss to Toronto with Nate Larkan getting the win. Yankees have gone 557 days without losing. It's like the Yankees would never lose again, until 10.26.04 when Jeremy Slifka had other plans. Game 2 will be live tomorrow from Gypsy at 4:45 PM, Aminis vs. Slifka! If the Yankees win they've got to win one more to go to the World Series, but if the Athletics win tomorrow... then their going to the World Series!
