news166/ Troy Hood to leave New York?, Whose in the derby? 2005 All-Star Game location [07.11.04]sun.[3:18am]
Troy Hood has said he wants to get some playing time at the plate before he retires. As you probably know, Troy only plays the field for the Yankees and does not hit. The shortstop will be retiring soon and may leave the team to get some playing time elsewhere. Rudy is considering his offer, there is honestly no room in the line-up for Hood. He understands that and may be on the move. We prodict he'll leave at the trade deadline at the all-star break at the end of the month.
As of right now here are the players in the home run derby. In the end we will have 5 from the AL and 5 from the NL.

  • AL : Scott Rudy - NYY
  • AL : J.R. Neuman - NYY
  • AL : DJ Cruz Jr. - NYY
  • AL : Ryan Cruz - NYY
  • AL : ?

  • NL : Brett Bernard - PHI
  • NL : Trevor Osgood - PHI
  • NL : Raydogg - PHI
  • NL : CH Harris - HOU
  • NL : Alex DeWitt - ATL

The final AL spot will be given to Jermey Slifka of the Oakland A's if he can make the trip to the game, if not it either goes to slugger John Black of the Yankees who has 7 homers out of 12 games or someone else. Possible players like Scott Jacks, Nathan Neuman, Abdulkareem all from Boston, Mike Brodeur of Toronto, Turner Showikz of Seattle, "Towering" Teddy McGurn of Kansas City, or even someone else. Still unknown.

If by any chance someone from the NL cannot participate in the HR Derby then Peter Brock will fill in for them. He is probably the most deserving in the NL to hit because he hits all the homers, and lead the NL last year in that category

The 2005 All-Star Game is scheduled to be live from The Anthony Rockwell Coliseum Complex in Rockwell, NY.
