Washu's past is one of the biggest mysteries in Tenchi Muyo, she can easily be dated back about 20,000 years by her own accounts in the story, but what about before than? The first step is to take what we know into account. Washu was a student at the science academy about 20,000 years ago when he met her husband. They married and had a child, it wasn't until after he left that Washu went for the director's chair. We know this because Dr. Clay tells Washu she's exactly the same, and Washu wouldn't have the body of a child untill after the ordeal. This was probably a very stable job that substained Washu for a majority of those years, until she decided to take a student. I estimate that Kagato became Washu's apprentice about 6,000 years ago, give or take around 500 years. This comes from that fact that we can date Ryoko about 5,700 years, and that Ryoko has no memory of Washu. This means Ryoko was probably born either a little before, or a little after Washu met Kagato. It was probably after since Kagato's ship's energy was created in the same general idea as Ryoko's and Ryo-ohki's (with gems). A little after that Washu was taken prisoner and we all know what happens next. The real question now comes in, where was Washu over 20,000 years ago? The clues come in when we look at Lady Tokimi, when she first appears she is preceded by a bunch of black shadow figures in the foreground, then she appears with a shadow of Washu, and Tsunami on either sides. Tokimi also wants an audiance with Washu, and it is latter stated that this dimension is perfect for her since Tsunami is there as well. That proves that they are all related some how. Could Washu have been a goddess as Lady Tokimi is believed to be (because of how Zero was saying her exsistance is impossible). This is the most popular theory, and the one that i believe. Her power was probably put into Ryoko's gems which would explain:1. Why Washu and Ryoko have similar powers 2. Why Ryoko and Jurai have similar powers (remeber that Tsunami was the original space tree) 3. Why Lady Tokimi seems to know so much about the Light Hawk Wings (when she was talking at the end of Return of Jurai 2). So why did Washu give up her powers? Was it for her husband? Was it an accident? (I think i feel a poll comming up for research).

She gave up her powers because she became so intrested in the Jurai race (or Human beings) that she wanted to live among them, and to live normally around them she gave up her memories and powers and sealed them away in the 3 gems that she made. Tsunami is the youngest of the three goddesses she became totally intrested in the LIGHT (or) GOOD. Lady Tokimi is the oldest she became totally intrested in the DARK (or) BAD. Washu...She was mixed...Meaning she became most like a human, sometimes good sometimes bad this is why she became intrested in humans.
