Ok, so we all know that Ryoko's gems give her power, and we all know she got them from Washu, so what's left? Well to start Ryoko somehow has the ability to steal power into what i'll call fake gems if needed. In the first episode Ryoko has two gems (one on her wrist and one on her earing), although the master key still has all three of her gems. At first you think what anyone else would, they made a mistake, but it's not true. First of all when Tenchi took off Ryoko's hand in the first episode The fake gem exploded, but when Yosho took it off in episode five it was fine. You also see that the gem on her earing is always there, and is even used to battle Kagato in episode six. Then when Zero took her body she was able to recreate the fake gem on her earing, but not the real one on her wrist. Now for the real big question, can Ryoko summon the Light Hawk Wings? I say she can. It is hinted that she should be able to in the last episode by Funaho, but then why did Ryoko never use the ability? I believe that while being controled by Kagato Ryoko doesn't have full capacity of her powers. I get this from the fact that Ryoko fights Kagato so well, but when she was used to attack Yosho in episode five she never lands a hit. It would also make sense since Washu's power, being the same as Tsunami's, should allow her to control the wings.
