The Illusion of Inclusion At Philadelphia

We all saw it on TV. The many smiling minorities at the Republican Convention and the performances by breakd dancers on stage. It was truly one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen.

The GOP convention this year was an attempt to soften the image of the Republican Party. Of course the convention was nothing more than an elaborate facade. In reality only four percent of the GOP delegates were African American. The all time high of inclusion for the Republicans was in 1916, when the delegates were six percent African American. The blacks appearing on stage were nothing more than props being used by conservative WASPs (White Anglo Saxon Protestants). In deed, it was very offensive. The African American community has been treated very patronizingly by the Republican Convention.

Now, who are the Republicans trying to fool? The African American community, probably not. Blacks know the score, they are fully aware of how conservative the Republicans really are. No, the show was put on for middle class whites of America. To ease their consciences and make the Republican party appear much more diverse and far more centrist than it really is.

Some may think that the GOP has changed, but they are fooling themselves. In reality it is still the party of Ronald Reagan and is as almost as conservative as it ever was. George Bush Jr.'s tax cuts benefit the upper tax brackets the most. The Republicans are calling to increase defense spending, but at the same time crafting a more conservative and though the Republicans are fiercely denying it a more isolationist foreign policy. Not to mention that the man that George Bush Jr. has picked as is number two is a hard-core conservative. Dick has even voted against a gun control measure supported by the N.R.A.!

Philadelphia was a terrible and elaborate hoax. The only thing that could be more terrible would be if the American people believed it.
