Final Exam

Part Two

Act One

Write a short essay analyzing the causes that lead Macbeth to the agreement of murdering Duncan(included all the causes that are mentioned in the act)

To me the causes that lead Macbeth to murdering Duncan are the

prophecies that the witches had predicted that he would become king.  He felt

that murdering the king would speed up the process of him becoming king.  The

emotion that overwhelmed him when the witches had told him of his prophecies

of becoming king made him surprised but yet joyful at the same time.  Another

influence that led to the agreement of Macbeth killing the king was his wife's Lady

Macbeth's influence.  She stood on his back and pressured him into changing his

mind and going ahead with the murder.  She would throw things in his face like

stating that if he really loved her he would go through with it.  On the night of the

murder Lady Macbeth would proclaim her love to Macbeth by telling him that she

would do anything for his love if he asked her to and she was just asking him to

do the same for her.  Her influence was a very big development in changing his

mind and very brainwashing at the same time.  Macbeth's influences were very

strong from both sides but he used his own judgement to decide what the

outcome of his decision would be.

Act Two

Analyze the immediate result of the murder of Duncan(the effect on Macbeth, Macduff, and other people even nature)

The immediate result of the murder of Duncan was Macbeth's reaction

after the deed was done was one of immense fear. Since on the night of the

murder there was a storm, every little noise that he had heard made him shake in

every way that he thought that Duncan's spirit was already haunting him.  He was

feeling a tremendous amount of guilt going through his body recalling the murder.

Lady Macbeth on the other hand acts as one who has had no part in any of the

planning of the murder and is trying to get her husband to stop acting so

suspicious and act as if nothing has happened.  She tries to hide that she is

guilty and wants to make her husband believe that he is too.  Macduff tends to

think that something strange is going on in the castle but is trying to find out what

it is.  He is suspicious about the way that Macbeth is acting and notices that

Macbeth is hiding something behind the mask that he has put on.  This murder

has had the greates impact on Macbeth because his life is in fear because he

feels that Duncan's ghost is after him.  By hiding everything behind the mask

that he has put on he will slowly begin to feel more guilt for the actions that he

has committed.
