Matewan", "Silkwood", "Norma Rae", "9 to 5"
The movie I chose to review was Norma Rae. The movie protrays a town
in which almost everyone, from black to white, young to old, male to female,
worked in factories. It showed how the conditions in the factory
were hazardous. The factory was basically a sweat shop. They
worked with machines that were dangerous and old. They were treated
like slaves. They always had someone over there shoulder. Norma
was one of the workers. She started to become friends with a union
representative from New York.
The man would stand infront of the factory inviting workers to the meeting
they were having, while they were entering the factory. But only
ten people went because the rest were too afraid of losing
there jobs. Norma Rae was one of the people to show up at the meeting.
The meeting was about trying to start a union at the company.
Because Norma had such pull in the factory she was offered a better job
with better pay but after a while she left because her close friends were
becoming were even closer enemies. After that Norma got most of the
workers to join the union.

of the factory claimed there own lifes by jumping out of 8th 9th and 10th
floor windows for reasons that they thought were safe. It was said
that the girls were paniced and pushing each other out of the way to get
to what they thought were safe.
Eye witness
accounts say they people ran to help the young ladies and they ended up
being crushed by the falling bodies that ended up making holes in the concertrate.
Fire fighters said that they found bady laying along side the dead body
still breathing. their was a group of students that tried to help
the workers. They took two ladders and hung them acrossthe roof as
a path of some girls but it could not hold all the weight.
Men that worked
in the factory made a human ladder by stretching their bodies across the
way bu all the weight from the girls made the ladder fall killing all the
crossers and guys forming the ladders. Because of the fire that state
