Martin Luther
Confirmation instruction is an integral part of the Lutheran tradition. In our Parish, youth from our 3 congregations come together to attend three years of instruction, usually during their 6th through 8th grade years, to learn more about the promises God made to them as an infant at their Baptism.
Confirmation instruction focuses on the writings of Martin Luther in the Small Catechism. This was written by Luther in 1529 for use by parents (and pastors), so that they could instruct their children in the faith within their home.
The Small Catechism consists of 5 parts: The Ten Commandments, The Apostles' Creed, The Lord's Prayer, The Sacrament of Holy Baptism, and The Sacrament of the Altar (or Holy Communion).
