She sat alone at the bar that night sipping on a glass of red wine. Nick couldn’t help but notice her she looked sad for some reason which made him stare even more. He causally walked over to her. “Why do you look so sad??”
“Excuse me??” Nick’s question totally caught her off guard not a lot of people let alone guys go up and talk to her unless they wanna know the time. “You look like something's bothering you that’s all I just wanted to know if you were okay”.
“Yes I’m fine” she replied before letting her eyes wonder around the room. “So....do you mind if I join you?”
“No right go ahead” she replied brush her hair away from her face. Nick sat down on the stool next to her. They sat not saying a word to each other for a few minutes. “Do you come here often?” Nick asked. “Only when I can afford it” . Nick could tell she was shy she barely looked at him when he spoke. He figured she was an easy target. They talked for a while and she told Nick her name was Chloe along with her whole life story. She told him about how she was new in town and how she was an outcast in her high school before graduating and to top it off she told him that she was a virgin. After a few drinks they went back to his place where they had sex. Chloe thought she finally found the man of her dreams. Her loneliness was finally coming to an end. But she was dead wrong.
“Wake up!” Nick said pulling the cover off of her. “What??” she asked tried and half asleep
“Get the fuck out of my house!” Nick said already fully dressed
“Nick I don’t know what you mean??”
“Look Chloe or whatever your name is you gave me what I wanted so go!!”
“But I thought we had something???” She said quickly getting dressed and trying not to cry.
“Well you thought wrong now”
Chloe didn’t wanna hear anymore she ran out as fast as she could. After a few minutes Nick noticed that her purse was laying on the floor he didn’t have a need for it, so he ran out after her. When Nick finally got out side he saw Chloe lying in the middle of the street surrounded by tons of people. Completely shocked he dropped her purse and ran over to her pushing the other people aside."What happened??”
“She just ran in the middle of the street I didn’t even see her” The voice said
Nick fell to his knees and held her lifeless body in his arms. “Don't die Chloe please don’t die I’m sorry” he whispered in her ear.
Shortly after the ambulance came and took her to the hospital. It would be another half an hour before she finally came to. Luckily the car’s impact didn’t do much damage. She only had a slight concussion and a broken wrist. Nick was relieved but he didn’t wanna go without seeing her. Chloe laid in the hospital bed, her dark wavy hair was a mess and she was very pale. “Why are you here??” She asked staring at the ceiling she didn’t even wanna look at him . “I wanted you see if you were okay”
“You already used that line try another one”
“I don’t blame you if you hate me”
“What do you mean if?”
“Chloe your not making this easy for me”
“How do you expect me to feel Nick?? You used me for sex knowing damn well I was a virgin, then you threw me out of your house. If anything you wanted this to happen”
“Don’t ever think that. Look I know what I did was wrong but I never wanted you to get hurt I swear”. Nick said brushing away her tears. Chloe looked up at him, she reminded him of a porcelain doll flawless and innocent. “Move in with me”
“What? I can’t just move in with you I barely know you”
“I know but I treated you like shit at least give me the chance to make up for it”
The next day Nick went to the hospital to pick up Chloe and take her back to his house. On the way they stopped at her shity apartment to pick up some clothes. She only agreed to stay with Nick because her place looked like hell! “You can put your stuff in whatever room you want” Nick said helping her carry some bags into the house. Nick noticed that Chloe didn’t say much she just stood there looking around the room. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah...It’s just that it’s weird being back here” she said picking up a bag and heading up stairs to one of the guest bedrooms. Chloe sat on the edge of the bed as Nick carried the rest of her bags in. “That teddy bear is for you” He said point at the bed. Chloe turned around and sat the bear on her lap. “Thank you”. It was obvious that Chloe didn’t wanna hold a conversation with him. “I’ll call you when dinner is ready, you can just make yourself at home” Nick patiently waited for an answer. He didn’t get one.
After dinner while Nick was asleep Chloe went into another guest bed room. She was surprised to find the same teddy bear that Nick had given her earlier that day. Chloe turned around to see Nick standing in the door away. “What are you doing????” Chloe didn’t know what to say. “Oh god what if he throws me out again???” She thought. “I.....I mean I didn't to wake you”. Nick walked closer to her “It’s okay did you get lost or something? This house is pretty big”. He notice the teddy bear still lying on the bed. “I see you found him” Nick said picking up the bear. “I didn’t mess it up” Choler replied. “No it’s alright I didn’t know what room you were gonna chose so I put the teddy bears in all of the guest room’s. You can keep them if you want”.
“Really you mean it?!?!?” She said happily
“Yes why wouldn’t I want you to have them??”
“Oh, Thank you Nick you don’t know what this means to me” Chloe quickly gave Nick a hug. When she finally realized what she was doing she backed off. “I didn’t mean to get all worked up like that”.
“Don’t worry about it.....” They both stared into each others eyes before moving in for a kiss they knew that would last forever.
