Writing about my neighborhood part II
Creative Piece

How Religion made us closer

I was raised in a very religious family.
Every Sunday I would go to church.
When we moved to little Corona, Queens it was very different.
In my old neighborhood only the old people attended church.
I never saw anyone my own age.
In my new neighborhood there were schools of kid my age that went to church.
In this little neighborhood every time I went to church it was packed.
If you wanted a seat you had to arrive early.
It was amazing that every Sunday I saw a sea of people all different ages and cultures.
Going to church in my new neighborhood is now an adventure.
I see the children laughing,
The old folks praying,
And the teenagers flirting.
It's an entire different community.
We are now united and everyone is closer.
We all have a unique bond that keeps us united and makes the community better.
I think that going to church has made me more open and active in my community.
The church, in my eyes, is like the sun
And we are the planets revolving and getting energy.
Church influences our actions and choices.
It has changed my community and now there is less violence.
I hope that in communities who are lost they can see the light
If they make church a priority and not a torture.
