I work at my town's Junior High School. There are about 600 students. I teach all of them about once a week. I see my job as not only teaching English, but also showing the children that forgeiners are human. They are real people, not objects to be gawked at. I try my best to interact with them, not always as their teacher, but also as a friend. The language barrier of course makes this difficult, but through some simple Japanese, simple English, pictures, drawings, and gestures, I think I have taught at least some sudents a few things about the world outside of Japan. This is where my joy comes from, not so much the classroom experience, but what I do with the students outside of the class.
