College Essay
My Life
NYU
Ever since I shot up those three inches every thing changed.
Even though I am not that tall those inchs still meant alot. My name
is Elana Greene. I am now seventeen years of age attending Murry
Bergtraum High School for Business and careers. When I first came
to Bergtraum for the Freshmen Orientation the first thing that was to suprise
me was a greeting from the schools girls basketball coach. He offered
me a chance to tryout for the team. I didn't know anything about
playing basketball but I sure learned everything slowly from that day on.
Throughout my Freshman and half of my Sophmore year I sat on the bench
and cheared for my team. At first it was fun chearing but after awhile
it got boring and I started wanting to be the one who was be cheared for.
So after I combined all the skills that were taught to me by my outside
league named MIKA and from what I learned in Practice, I decided to work
on doing what was expected of me on the court. It took a while but
my strong determination got me a starting spot my Junior year. It
also got my team and I a PSAL Championship for the year of 1998-1999.
Throughout those years of my life basketball was
not the only thing in my life, my school work was also very important to
me. From the start my coaches have influence my teammates and I to
concentrate on our classes. They have urged us to maintain a good
average so that when it comes time to apply for colleges we would not have
problems getting accepted to a good college.
