Specialized Slovak Letters

Would you like to put specialized Slovak letters on a web page, with the use of HTML number codes? Here’s how to do it.

First, do whatever you have to do to be able to encode your web page manually. In the place where you want the specialized letter to appear, type an ampersand (&), then the pound sign (#), then the designated number for the letter that you want (see below), and then a semicolon (;). Web browsers will decode and display that combination of characters as a specific letter.

These are the HTML codes for each letter:

á: á

Á: Á

ä: ä

Ä: Ä

č: č

Č: Č

ď: ď

Ď: Ď

é: é

É: É

í: í

Í: Í

ĺ: ĺ

Ĺ: Ĺ

ľ: ľ

Ľ: Ľ

ň: ň

Ň: Ň

ó: ó

Ó: Ó

ô: ô

Ô: Ô

ŕ: ŕ

Ŕ: Ŕ

š: š

Š: Š

ť: ť

Ť: Ť

ú: ú

Ú: Ú

ý: ý

Ý: Ý

ž: ž

Ž: Ž

Here’s an example of how this would look:

My ancestor Štefan Gabriž, and his wife Katarína Pagáč, lived in Košariská.
