I like to keep things simple, so this page isn't fancy. Just words. My sources are several friends within the Mets' organization. I've also added my own research (just basic stuff that can be found anywhere on the 'net), and occasional opinions from the forums of other teams.

Some deadline rumblings:
The Mets and Boston are discussing a deal that would ship righty starter Rick Reed and center fielder Jay Payton to the Red Sox for old friend Carl Everett, as well as a "salary dump", either outfielder Troy O'Leary or infielder Mike Lansing. Reed would boost a hurting Boston rotation, while Payton would probably cover left in boston (with Trot Nixon manning center). Everett would add much needed pop to the Mets' outfielder, and provide some protection for Mike Piazza if/when Robin Ventura is dealt.
Seattle is also interested in Reed and Payton, with primary interest in Payton. The Mets are asking for reliever Jose Paniagua in return (perhaps with an eye towards dealing Armando Benitez), which is a longshot. Brett Tomko would be a more likely return, adding to the Mets suddenly-growing stockpile of young arms.
The Mets and Arizona have discussed a deal that would send Benitez and shortstop Rey Ordonez to the desert for Erubiel Durazo and an expensive contract. Tony Womack has been mentioned, but he's on the DL currently. The Diamondbacks have been pushing center fielder Steve Finley, but the Mets aren't interested.
