Back Yard Bash &
Block Party Ideas

Back Yard Bash

Who says you need a holiday in order to have a
Party?

Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to an
All-American barbecue feast. It's time for the big
outdoor party. We have everything you need to host
the best party on the block.

How long has it been since you threw a real party
for your family and friends? If you need a festive
occasion to get you moving, how about the Fourth of
July? Everyone loves the laid-back atmosphere of a
summer party.

On this red, white and blue day, however, the main
event takes place at the grill and beverage table.
Start with family and friend, blend in traditional
holiday dishes, add some surprising new ones

Your Back Yard Bash will make history all its own!

Block Party

Here were a few ideas:

1. Hold a planning meeting (that's only if you
didn't have a set date).

2. Notify the Police Department - Contact your
local police dept. to find out which permits,
if any are needed.

3. Enlist your community's help - Local businesses
may donate prizes or gift certificates. Or find out
if your town's community relations police officer
can stop by for a safety talk or K-9 unit
demonstration..or the Fire department : )

4. Map out the menu - One proven method:
Ask each family to bring beverages and a main
dish (Such as ready-to-grill burgers) for their
own members, as well as a salad, side dish or
dessert to share. A few backyard grills wheeled
to a central spot provide the perfect place for
each partygoer to cook up a hamburger, chicken
breast or bratwurst.

5. Think of Safety - Before the party discuss ways
to ensure adult supervision around grills. Also,
consider food safety (e.g., don't keep perishable
foods, such as ground beef or mayo-based salad
outdooors for longer then an hour, it's better to
cook and serve in smaller batches).

5. Include activites for all ages - Recruit teens,
an often-overlooked age group, to help run
activities.

Then try these outdoor diversions. ALL AGES:
Scavenger Hunt, relay races, Hula Hoop contest.
KIDS:
Sidewalk chalk-art competition (with a prize for
everyone), face painting, decorated bike and
ride parade.
TINY TOTS:
Bubble-blowing, beanbag toss.

Hope maybe you can use some of the ideas!
