MINUTES OF THE MVSRA MEETING 11/23/03

Attendance: Glen Bahr, Rifet Begic, Bill Brooks, Art Durando, John Elnicky, Kit Hutchinson, Peter Inserra, Ed Kobos, Byron May, Rick Mitchelson, Ray Pitcher, Andy Rozanski, Naomi Starsiak, John Story, Kevin Waters, Tim Zotta.

Called to Order: 2:20 PM

  1. Correspondence:
    1. Dariusz Sady has resigned from the Association and Paul Rogers will be inactive due to injury.
    2. Photo ID’s from last year were charged to the Association and paid for but not all referees received them. Ed was instructed to ask USSF for a refund by Jose.
  2. Reports:
    1. President: There was a Board of Directors Meeting on 11/11/03
    2. Treasurer: There is $1400 in the Association account
    3. Registrar: If you did not receive your registration forms they are available at ussoccer.com
    4. Assignor: Reports are still missing from CNYSSL games over summer mainly from Oneonta, Syracuse and Albany referees.
  3. Committees:
    1. Membership: Art passed around postcards referees will be given to hand out to prospective new members. Posters will be hung at Sportplx and Field of Dreams announcing the upcoming class.
    2. Training: Ed has decided to cut the length of business conducted at meetings and increase the training aspect.
  4. New business:
    1. Election of officers: only 4 of 32 members sent in their choices for officers and 3 of the 4 requested incumbents fill another term. The secretary cast one vote on behalf of the membership for the current slate of officers to be re-elected.
    2. The 2004 meeting schedule will be as follows: 2/8/04, 4/11, 5/9, 6/13, 7/11, 9/12, and 11/14 will be the annual meeting. The dates are subject to change and all members will be properly notified of meetings in advance.
    3. The dues for 2004 are increased to $25.00 however; referees will receive a rebate of $1.00 per meeting attended up to a total of $5.00. They may take it in cash at the end of the year or apply it toward 2005 dues. Dues can be paid to the treasurer at anytime prior to the second meeting (April 11, 2004) without a fine.
    4. Awards will be given out to referees for their conduct last season. Ballots will be passed out at the February 2004 meeting.
    5. There will be an entry-level referee course held on February 28 and March 6, 2004 at McCraith Beverage in New York Mills. We will offer an assistant referee course to interested players and coaches from the CNYSSL.
  5. Items for the good of the game:
    1. CNYSSL is to collect game reports next year and will fine referees that do not submit them within the 48-hour mandatory time frame.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:47 pm for the taking of the yearly test. (Kit Hutchinson and John Elnicky)
