Minutes of the MVSRA meeting on 2/2/03
Called to order at 5:12 pm
Attendance: Ed Kobos, Peter Inserra, Kit Hutchison, Eric Ventura, Rik Mitchelson, Paul Rogers, Ray Pitcher, Dariusz Sady, Bill Brooks, Glen Bahr, John Mielnicki.
Minutes of the last meeting: The minutes are posted on our web page and all members have 2 weeks from the date of this meeting (2/2/03) to send objections to the secretary. Otherwise the minutes will stand as posted on the web site.
Correspondence:
- Jack Hahn has un-retired as the SYRA of Eastern New York.
- The ODP and State Cup are being held in June. If you are interested in refereeing contact Ed Kobos as soon as possible.
- The Regionals are being held in Rhode Island July 3-7 and if you are interested contact Ed Kobos as soon as possible.
- Any suggestions for Youth referee of the year should be sent to Ed Kobos as soon as possible because the name must be submitted by March 16.
Officer Reports:
- President:
- "We had a good year last year but we still need to increase membership as well as attendance at meetings.
- State meeting will be held 2/15/03 Ed and Kevin will be attending. Any questions or concerns should be sent to them ASAP.
- Assignor:
- Availability sheets for the CNYJSL and CNYSSL will be posted on our web site soon. Games start in April so send them in soon.
- Treasurer: absent- no report
- Secretary:
- New referee list is in the works so send any info changes to the secretary ASAP
5) Registrar: no report
Committee Reports:
- Membership: absent – no report
- Training:
- We will be sending 2 junior referees with a senior referee to CNYJSL games to help them gain experience.
Unfinished Business:
- Registration: Jon Harter and Andrew Rozanski have picture Id’s and badges waiting to be picked up. See Ed Kobos.
- All fees have finally been received from the CNYSSL
- CNYSSL 2003 proposal: the executive Board met and proposed fees of $110 per game for a 3-person crew and $85 for 2 or 1 referee. The assignors’ fee increased to $4.00 per game assigned and must be paid in full before the season starts. A letter was sent to the CNYSSL president stating the same.
New Business:
- Entry-level referee graduates: 8 people took the course and passed. They were unavailable for the meeting.
- Dues for 2003 are due. If they are not paid to the treasurer (John Story) by the April meeting a $10 fine will be imposed. The secretary will be sending out reminder notices to those who still owe.
- Fines: a motion was made by Ray Pitcher and seconded by Glen Bahr stating the assignor shall take into consideration ability and attendance at MVSRA meetings when assigning games. This policy will be reviewed each year at the annual meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
- The 2003 meeting dates were set as follows: April 6 at 3pm at Sportplx, May 28 at 7 pm at Sportplx, June 14 at 7 pm at Sportplx (tentative), July 27 at 7 pm at Sportplx (tentative), August 9 and 20 refresher and re-certification time and place to be determined, November 23 at 3 pm (tentative) site to be determined (annual meeting). The secretary will send out notices in advance of all meetings.
- Sean and Ed (along with Keith Fisher, ENY) were voted best crew in the Tampa Bay Sunbowl and were awarded the boys under 15 final game. Sean also worked 3 games as AR and 1 as CR during the South Carolina State Cup.
Items for the good of the game:
- USSF has approved the blue jersey as an alternate. If you plan to referee outside the area be sure to have both long and short sleeve available.
Training:
- Ed gave a quiz on rules
