Minutes of the MVSRA meeting on April 9, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 pm
Attendance: Ed Kobos, Kevin Waters, Peter Inserra, Eric Ventura, Glen Bahr, Sean Kobos, Art Durando
- The minutes of the February meeting were approved unanimously. First: Art, Seconded: Kevin
- Correspondence:
- Ed Kobos thanked the Association for their sympathy after the loss of his father.
- CNYSSL fee proposals for the upcoming season were read. They include game fees of $100 less $25 per missing AR, $3 per game for the assignor, league rules will be distributed 3 weeks prior to the start of the season, home teams will provide a spectator line 3 yards from the touch line on either side of the field.
- The Oneonta board has accepted us as associate members with no fee and we have reciprocated with them.
- Presidents Report: The president made many contacts and received a lot of information from other clubs at the meeting of New York State East.
- Secretaries Report: The updated roster will be emailed to the membership in Word format with other formats available upon request. Also, to increase attendance at meetings the secretary will email all members once a week prior to meetings with postcard reminders going to members with poor attendance records.
- Assignors report: Availability forms are available on our web page and must be filled out and submitted to the assignor by May 1, 2002. Syracuse referees association does not want us to do CNYJSL and they do not want to do CNYSSL. The assignor will contact them to see about assigning for CNYJSL when we have referees available as we have priority due to the fact that the games are in our jurisdiction.
- Audit Committee: the audit committee reports that for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2001, the financial records are in substantial compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP).
- Old Business:
- Membership Committee: Art Durando suggested we ask prospective officials to join during the High School assignments this fall. He also suggested we approach high school coaches to award a player who is a prospective referee a membership to our association.
- Training Committee: the training portion was cancelled due to technical problems. The committee chair has requested all members get in shape for the upcoming CNYSSL season.
- Registration Committee: all members are now registered,
- Flipping Coin: The members present were shown 2 variations of our coin, a light background and a dark one. The dark one was approved 4 to 3 and an order for 100 will be placed.
- CNYSSL: There will be 6 Premier teams, 10 Men’s division teams and 10 Women’s teams.
- New Business:
- The USSF Course has been cancelled due to lack of interest. It may be rescheduled for the weekend of May 8-10.
- There is an Assessors course and an Advanced Clinic coming up in New York City. For details see Ed.
