Reports of the Officers—
President Ed Kobos: 7 new referees took the course last month; all passed the test. We have word of two USSF officials who have recently located in the area from Alaska; we hope to recruit them to join us.
Treasurer John Story: We have $450, plus 4 more checks received tonight. Our bank accounts are being set up at the Bank of Utica, which offers 10 checks free and no check bounce charges, but offers no interest either.
Assignor Kevin Waters: We need availability sheets to be prepared by each MVSRA referee soon. The first known games are June 5th, but there may be some sooner.
Registrar Peter Inserra: One batch of registrations has been sent. Another will go out soon.
Report of Committees—No committees have been formed yet.
Unfinished Business—None.
New Business—
WEB Page: At http://www.angelfire.com/ny4/MVUSSF. What else should be included? Suggested additions were a list of members (names only), officers, committee chairs, possibly EMail addresses.
CNYSSL: The current number of teams are 6 Premier, 10 B-league (5 North and 5 South), and 9 Women. There will be no Premier playoffs this year. More information on their Web site will include team names, locations, colors, etc. Their games begin June 5th. They want referee reports for every game. Further guidelines will come later.
CNYJSL: Ed did not receive information from Angelo Paparo prior to our meeting as he expected. It will be posted on our Web page when available.
Empire State Games: They anticipate needing 9-12 local USSF referees for the games, to be played July 25-29, including center referees, assistant referees, and scorekeepers. Our referees are to submit to Ed an honest self-appraisal of which level you are comfortable at serving. The Games organizers will provide training for the officials. A specific uniform will be required.
Rome Rising Stars: They are planning a tournament (8 teams in each of 5 divisions) on August 4-5 and need referees. (We will be involved in CNYSSL Finals on August 4.) Kevin Waters volunteered to serve as Assignor for this tournament.
Forming Committees: The Executive Committee will be forming Membership and Training Committees soon. Volunteers for the Training Committee were Frank Foster, Eric Ventura, and Glen Bahr.
Oneonta: Referees from Oneonta have asked to receive travel money if they need to travel to our area to officiate. (This will be discussed further in the future.) Ed Kobos proposed we suggest reciprocal membership between our two boards without fee. General consensus of our members was in favor.
Game Reports: We need to assign a person to receive all game reports from our members and track reports still owed, follow up, remind, etc.
Items for the Good of the Game—Tabled.
Training—We viewed an excellent USSF video on the Offside Law.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m. Next meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. May 8th at the Sportplx.
Glen Bahr,
Acting Secretary
