Troop 400 Songs

Every Wednesday night at the end of our meeting, the adults and Scouts of Troop 400 gather around in a circle, linking their hands with their arms crossed left-over-right, and sing the troop songs. First, we sing Trail the Eagle, to remind us all of our continuing duty to become Eagle Scouts. Next, we sing Scout Vespers, followed by Taps. Our Bugler will then play Taps once more by himself. This signals the end of our meeting. The words to the songs are as follows:

Trail the Eagle

Trail the Eagle,

Trail the Eagle,

Climbing all the time.

First the Star,

and then the Life,

will on your bosom shine, keep climbing.

Blaze the trail and we will follow,

Hark that Eagle's call!

On, brothers, on until we're Eagles all!

Scout Vespers

Softly falls the light of day,

as our campfire fades away.

Silently each Scout should ask,

'have I done my daily task?

Have I kept my honor bright?

Can I guiltless sleep tonight?

Have I done and have I dared,

everything to Be Prepared?'

Taps

Day is done.

Gone the Sun,

from the Lakes,

from the Hills,

from the Skies.

All is well.

Safely rest.

God is Nigh.
