Ask JimmyI'm Back!!
As you know, I've been away from this site for some time. Many things have contributed to this, including to all of the work involved with completing my Master's Degree in Education. This took much of any spare time I had. Now that this is all behind me I plan on being more involved with this site.
I know I don't have to tell you, over the past year many things have happened in the world of "Hank Williams and Drifting Cowboys." Sadly, many of these seem to be passings. There is much to up-date. Over the upcoming weeks I will be attempting to bring this site up-to-date.
I want to thank those who wrote to me over my "time away." Your help, questions, and comments are/were greatly appreciated! Thanks, Nathan Parker (Manager - The Drifting Cowboys Website)
**Another Drifting Cowboy Passes**
I was sad to hear of the passing of steel-guitar legend, Don "Shag" Helms on August 11, 2008. He was 81. Shag not only played with Hank & The Drifting Cowboys, but also Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, The Wilburn Brothers, and Hank Jr...just to name a few.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. He will be greatly missed! Sincerely, Nathan.
Some News Coverage

"Famed Steel Guitarist Dead at 81" (WSMV.com; Aug. 11, 2008)
Magazine Ending Publication
After their December 2008 issue the great magazine Yesterday's Memories is will no longer be published. Its' owner and editor Steve Maze has printed many Hank Williams and Drifting Cowboys related articles over the years and has contributed greatly to recording the stories of The Cowboys. He leaves to concentrate on his family and other writing projects.
I wish much luck and success with his future endeavors.
Thanks Steve for everything!! ~ Nathan.
Ask Jimmy
With the passing of our friend Jimmy Porter, so does the Ask Jimmy section of this website. It was a amazing honor to assist Jimmy in telling his part of the "Hank Williams and Drifting Cowboys" story. I know he personally loved hearing and answering the questions that you sent in. He told me this all the time.
From myself and Jimmy (I know he would like to) thank you for sending them.
The Ask Jimmy section will remain on-line for informational purposes and as my small and humble tribute to the man that I called "friend." Thanks Jimmy!
