Minutes
St. Columba/St. Denis/Blessed Kateri Conference April 9, 2008
Carole opened the meeting at 7:10 pm with a reading of Psalm 119-Aleph.

The minutes were read by Barbara Yannaco, accepted by Linda Hunt, and seconded by John Lucid.

In attendance were: Linda Hunt, Kay Coyle, Nancy Guarino, Chuck and Joanne Bunnell ,  John Lucid, Laura and Bucky Ryan, Jim Falanga, Bill and Carole Grafer, Ray Riley, and Barbara Yannaco.

Our HPNAP report for March: we served 80 households which included 116 children, 128 adults, and 23 elderly. This represents a 16% increase over March 2007. We also distributed 100 Easter baskets.

We received a thank you from Kathy Jones for the Easter baskets that were donated to Good Counsel.

On March 21st Blessed Kateri held a special collection for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. We received $3057 from this collection. Thank you all for your generosity.

The check list that was used for the Easter basket distribution worked out well and was very much appreciated by the new volunteers. We will fine tune this check list and use it again at Thanksgiving time.

We are sharing some of our bread and bagels with the new St. Anthony’s food pantry.

Carole has listed the following upcoming food drives: April 27th Girl Scout troop led by Carole Scheible at the A&P in Hopewell, May 2nd the St. Columba-St. Denis PSA card party, May 17-21 St. Columba religious ed paper and personal hygiene drive, and May 30th the Girl Scout troop led by Sue Eisner.

The necessary grant papers for our HPNAP and OSP money were sent in by Carole.

The 2007 Farm Bill expires on April 18th. If a new one is not signed into law it will revert back to the old law. This is not a good scenario for our clients or our food bank. We will continue to watch this situation.

Linda will be placing a notice in all of the bulletins in mid July for school supplies. Please keep this in mind and when you see your clients over the summer see if they need any of the supplies that have come in. We do not have the room to store all of these  supplies so they need to be out of the closet when school starts.
