Minutes
St. Columba/St. Denis/Blessed Kateri Conference November 8, 2006

Carole opened the meeting at 7:04 pm with a reading from Matthew chapter 22 verses 36-39.

The minutes were read by Barbara Yannaco; accepted by Nick Dono; and seconded by Linda Hunt.

In attendance were: John Lucid, Bucky Ryan, Ann Nardelli, Betty Riggio, Jack Kiely, Linda Layton, Linda Hunt, Rosemarie D’Antoni,  Joanne DiSalvo, Kay Coyle, Nick Dono, Joanne and Chuck Bunnell, and Barbara Yannaco.

Our HPNAP report for October 2006: we served 84 households which included 116 children, 154 adults, and 20 elderly. This is a 52% increase over October 2005.

We have received the following donations recently: the second collection at St. Columba  Church which was held on November 12th, 1st Friday food collection from St. Denis/St. Columba school, food drive by troop 182 Cub Scouts, and the food collected at the Dolls Tea Party sponsored by St. Denis/ St. Columba school.

Debbie Gillespie of Tokio Electronics will be sponsoring a food drive from November 2nd-November 30th. Melissa Cordoni from the Unionvale Middle School  will be delivering five cases of food and toys to Linda on November 12th.Tara Bussey and  her Daisy troop will be helping us out on December 7th.

Nick, Joanne, Chuck, and Bucky went to the food bank on November 8th. They returned with 3,041 pounds of food and spent $1937. Ann, Kay, and Linda were at the food closet to help put this food away.

Nick, Chuck, Joanne, and Ed Ryan made a special trip to the food bank for salvage. What they were able to get was based on what we spend and the number of clients that we serve. They were able to acquire foil and plastic bags which we  always need.  They were also able to acquire extra rice, cereal, fruits, vegetables, and canned items that we can always use.

John Lucid has volunteered to shop for items that we need but are having trouble getting from the food bank.

Joanne spoke to us about ways to stretch the amount of food we have. We need to have our clients realize that we are supplementing their food supply and that we can not be their only source for getting food. This is especially true with our numbers increasing at such a rapid pace.

All clients should have a number. Check with Linda if you have a client that does not have one.

There will be no drawing at the basket pick up. We will try to give some baskets out through the front door.

There are coats in the closet if you have a client who needs one.

The next news letter will be sent out in late January.

The next meeting will be our Christmas meeting and will be held on December 13th.

Carole handed out the meeting schedule for 2007.

The Christmas baskets will be handed out on December 17th.

Carole closed the meeting at 8:16pm with a prayer.
