Minutes
St. Columba/St. Denis/Blessed Kateri Conference May 11, 2005

The meeting came to order at 7:05 PM. The minutes were read and
accepted.
Carole read a prayer from John 21, verses 15-17.

In attendance was Linda Hunt, Kay Coyle, Nancy Behanna, Kathy Palmer Betty Riggio, Barbara Yannaco, Jack Kiely, Carole and Bill Grafer, Nick Dono, John Falcho, Jim Falanga and two new members, Michael Sicard and Ed Ryan. Welcome.

We started with our HAPNAP report. We helped 55 households, 89 were children, 103 adults, and 10 seniors.
The Parent School Association (PSA) will hold a card party this Friday, May 13. Again, The Altar Rosary Society will ask for donations of canned goods. On Saturday morning, Carole will collect the items and stock the food pantry.

Carole and crew have been busy renovating our food closet. They have primed and painted half the floor and the walls. The walk-in cooler and freezer were removed by JB Refrigeration and two new freezers are in. One will be a locked unit for excess freezer items and the second one will be used for frequently used goods, such as meat.
Also, an electrician upgraded our electric to accommodate the new freezer units and an exhaust fan was installed.
We are waiting for a new small, two glass door refrigerator to be added to the pantry. Pepsi is helping us with the purchase.
Carole showed the group a rough sketch of the pantry's floor plan. (After the meeting, we went over to the food pantry and were impressed by the work that was already completed.) The cost of removing the old walk-ins is $2,200, cost of buying two new freezer units $9,670, cost of a new refrig ~1200-1400, ceiling tiles were ~$113, paint, primer, rollers etc. were ~$240 and electric and the exhaust fan were ~$3000 although we have not yet received a bill.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PANTRY WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY, MAY 16.

On Thursday, June 16 we will have our last meeting before the summer break. There will be a special dedication and a blessing of the food pantry instead of our usual meeting. Immediately after we will have a reception, so please feel free to bring some refreshments or something to eat. Look for your invitation in the mail.

The next trip to the food warehouse will be on May 20. Linda H. read a nice thank you note from a client who received one of our Easter baskets. She also attended the Parish Counsel meeting on April 28, and gave a brief account. Linda will have an announcement placed in the church bulletin, asking for school supplies starting in July.

As we welcome our two new members, we say good-bye to Nancy Behanna. Nancy will be moving and we wish her the best in her new home.

The meeting came to a close at 8:10 PM. A prayer was said for all our families.
