Whats up! So whats the deal with Anticon, is it a label or a crew?
Yes.
Who are some of the artists that are with Anticon?
Sole, Dose, Alias, Mayonaise, Jel, Sixtoo, Buck 65, Why?, Oddnosdam, Moodswing9, Scott Matelik, Math, Controller7, Adeem, and MF Shalem.
And what are some of there projects coming out on Anticon in 2000?
Stuffed Animals, Deep Puddle, Buck 65 "Man Overboard", Anticon Presents: Magnet Poetry, DJ Mayaonaise "55 stories", Alias lp, North American Adonis, Hip Hop Special Olympics, Them, Josh Martinez, Mothership Eternia, and much more too my friend.
So your from Maine and you moved out to the Bay Area in Cali, how is that workin out for you and what made you decide to do that move?
I got fired from my job at Unum America and I had already burned all the bridges in the Portland, Maine corporate world and had no choice but to move somewhere that my technical skillset would be of value. Plus the Bay is my favorite place in the world, and Portland, Maine isn't.
Who were some of your influences in Hip Hop back in the day?
Lord Finesse, Nas, Black Moon, OC, Organized Konfusion, and Fellowship.
So whats goin with your new solo album?
I dont know. I'm currently redoing it because these mp3 motherfuckers bootlegged me to hell.
Who is handling the production and are there any guest appearances?
Mainly all the producers on Anticon, Daddy Kev did a beat, and I'm still waiting back on Herb E Luv Bug.
When will that joint be out?
February. The single is in stores now.
You have a new website now, how is that doing?
Well it gets the propaganda out so thats great. we seem to have a pretty active chat site and message board. We'll soon be broadcasting shows live as well, t-shirts, underwear. All available at www.anticon.com
Can heads order product from your site?
If they buy into all this anticon bullshit. I wouldn't reccommend it though, the music is all depressing...
Now your also in a group called Deep Puddle Dynamics right, whats goin on with that project?
It'll be out in a few weeks. Its basically the project that brought Anticon together, our first collaborative effort. Its cool, its the first project I did im really proud of. I dunno.
So is there any other albums or compilations that will feature Sole?
Sole will appear on everything by 2002, but this year you can peep me on..."Sole Bottle of Humans", "Stuffed Animals", "Anticon Presents: Magnet Poetry", THEM LP, So Called Artists, a few things here and there. But im kinda cool off giving my songs to all these compilations that keep popping up.
What are you thoughts on Hip Hop right now?
I think hip hop is better and more exciting than ever. Thanks to labels like Celestial, Weapon Shaped, Shapeshifters, Rhymesayers, Four Ways to Rock, and Mush. I know that the ever so slept on in this so called "hip hop music" will be all powerful and splendid in its ways.
Have you been doing a lot of shows?
Weekly or so.
Any plans for a tour in 2000?
Yes. It'll be on the site when we annouce it. In the meantime I'm just flying myself everywhere i wanna go...
